If you and your family are searching for activities, one thing to consider might be the Park City Snow Fest, an event filled time of holiday cheer. Today, for example, you can find carolers in the afternoon at Park City Mountain Village, and then meet the Avalanche Dogs in the evening at Canyons Village Ski Beach. Top it all off with the Annual Torchlight Parade at Park City Mountain Village.
If you haven’t made it out to Park City yet to explore these events, you can still check their calendar HERE to view the activities planned in the upcoming weeks. The Avalanche Dogs will be making regular appearances. On january 3rd from 3pm to 6pm visit Canyons village for Silver Sky Nights (Fireworks, Live Music, Hot Cocoa and Donuts, Crafts and Glow Sticks).
Utah is home to world class ski resorts, boasting some of the best skiing in the USA. Now there is exciting news! A brand new Ski resort is expected to open in 2021!
The resort is Mayflower Mountain Resort and Village, located just after the Mayflower exit on Highway 40 near Jordanelle Reservoir. The Resort will have 400 skiable acres. Originally the plans involved a joint venture with Deer Valley, having the two resorts operate as one. However, no funding has been delegated to the New Mayflower Resort from Deer Valley, so it has yet to be seen if that plan will become a reality or not. Also, there has been no word on whether the Mayflower Resort and Village will continue with the Deer Valley policy of skiers only. Over the past few months while you were out enjoying the summer sun, Snowbird was hard at work on their most anticipated project for the coming year. This winter, a new hi-speed Gad 2 will be in operation. Gad 2, arguably one of the best lifts serving up access to hidden powder stashes on the mountain, is also the only new chairlift in the state this season.
Upgrading from the dated double chair to a high speed, detachable quad, fresh turns are now accessible in half the time of the old lift. This translates to faster laps and more of Utah’s famously deep powder. After such success with the replacement of the Little Cloud chair last season, Gad 2 is poised for a big debut this winter.
