Park City Chamber of Commerce officials said that the 40,000 regular visitors the Sundance Film Festival would draw were made back by visitors flocking to resorts for skiing and snowboarding this year. However, the festival itself found its own success–despite the lack of a physical event. The secret? Online attendance.
Sundance Institute officials say that attendance was estimated at over 600,000 for the virtual event over the course of 7 days–a 168% increase in viewership from last year. Revenue for this event is estimated at over $170 million.
