Brighton Ski Resort in Big Cottonwood Canyon Utah was the first ski resort in Utah, and one of the first in the United States. Brighton started way back in 1936 when members of the Alpine Ski Club built a tow rope from wire and an old truck motor. This is where most of the staff at learned to ski. Most Brighton skiers and riders are Utah locals and believe it is one of ski Utah’s ”best kept secrets”. But the word is getting out since Brighton is getting known for its cliffs, chutes, bowls and natural features. The publicity is increasing as Brighton was voted to have the 2nd best snow in North America, losing the top spot to its neighbor Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort. Brighton Ski Resort reaches 10,750 feet with 1,130 skiable acres. We have complete ski packages as well as lift ticket discounts available.

Brighton is next door to Solitude Mountain Resort and the two ski areas offer a common “Solbright Pass” which provides access to both resorts for a small fee. Transit between the two mountains is provided from Solitude to Brighton via the Solbright run off the Summit Express on Solitude, or via the Evergreen trail off the Milly Express on Brighton. This treasure is not to be missed and is why Brighton is one of the favorite ski resorts of the ski reservation agents at For discounts on lift tickets or complete Utah ski vacations, call at 801-544-1800.
