Joint Venture Acquires Deer Valley Resort


Containing more than 2,000 skiable acres, Deer Valley is located in the town of Park City, and its base is about two miles southeast of Park City Mountain Resort’s base. Park City Mountain Resort is owned by Vail, the company most directly competing with the new joint skiing parent company of Mammoth Mountain, Squaw Valley, and Intrawest Holdings which has just acquired Deer Valley Resort, which should be branded & named before the 2017 – 2018 ski season.

Though the financial terms weren’t disclosed, the acquisition was announced Monday, August 21st. The company is headed by KSL Capital Partners and Henry Crown & Co., who also owns Aspen Skiing Co., though that Colorado namesake resort and three affiliated and adjacent mountains aren’t part of the group. The group will, however, own a total of 13 resorts (so far), including Deer Valley.
